ROSEBURG, OR – President Obama will visit Roseburg, Oregon this Friday.
He’ll meet privately with family members of victims of the deadly mass shooting at Umpqua Community College.
The president made an angry statement after the shooting calling for serious action on gun control.
That statement has some Roseburg residents angry.
(Rick Sund/Roseburg Resident): “I don’t think he should be here, to be honest with you. His announcement he made about gun control and the way that coming off the first thing he said, instead of saying sorry for the families, I think it was just wrong. I think he needs to stay in Washington.”
(Jean Wiles/Roseburg Resident): “I think it’s something that’s needed for the parents of the children that lost their lives to have our top man, our president, come and talk to them.”
(Tom Fugate/Roseburg Resident): “He’s coming into an area here where I would guess 99-percent of us have guns and hunt so he’s coming into kind of a lion’s den in that area.”
The president’s stop in Roseburg will kick off a four-day visit to the west coast.
