Searching for suspects in unsolved University City murders

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - A stabbing suspect is on the run days after a 70-year old man from University City was found dead in his home. Police are investigating other unsolved murders in the same neighborhood.

University City Police say the three unsolved murders are not connected and they are following various leads.

Investigators say the 70-year old male victim was possibly robbed in his home when the fatal stabbing occurred. Residents find the news alarming.

The 70-year old man was killed in his home Wednesday in the 7100 block of Amherst Ave. Police say a co-worker went to check on the victim they found the elderly male stabbed multiple times.

Authorities confirm man's death is the third fatal stabbing in the area.

Police say another fatal stabbing occurred less than a mile away in the 800 block of Pennsylvania avenue in 2013. In that case two brothers where found stabbed to death in an apartment. That investigation is on going.

Residents who live on the street of the 70-year old male victim say the violence must end.
