Second twin dies after brother drowns in hotel pool

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – St. Louis police say just days after his twin brother drowned in a hotel pool, Derrone Snelson died Tuesday morning. According to police, both Derrone and his twin brother Laron had to be rescued from the pool at the Pear Tree Inn in the 2200 block of Market on Saturday.

Both children were unresponsive at the scene. Laron was pronounced dead at an area hospital on Saturday.  Derrone was listed in critical condition before he passed away.

The boy’s aunt says the boys were at a pool party with members of their mom’s side of the family celebrating a birthday.

A memorial fund has been set up for the family. Donations can be made at any US Bank location. Please specify your donation to Laron Snelson.

Drury Hotels which owns the Pear Tree Inn released this statement Saturday night:

“We are aware of this tragic situation. We are working with police and medical personnel to find out the specifics of what happened. Our condolences go out to the family, friends and loved ones of those involved.”  David Ziegler, Division Director.
