Sen. Claire McCaskill helps open Women’s Imaging Center at VA hospital

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - The John Cochran VA Hospital held a special ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of their Women's Imaging Center. They had a special guest stop by. Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill served as the keynote speaker.

The Senator and others talked about the importance of having state of the art healthcare to accommodate the growing number of female veterans. The new facility located on the second floor has new mammogram, ultrasound and bone density equipment. Officials say its one of three facilities of its kind in the VA system.

Right now there are 39,000 female veterans in the state of Missouri. The number is expected to grow by 37 percent nationwide within the next ten years. Nearly 15 percent of active military members are women.
