(KTVI)-- The St. Andrews Cinema in St. Charles may be one of the best bargains around. A movie here costs only a dollar.

But how long will this bargain be around?

Hollywood is forcing theaters across the country to go all digital by the end of 2013.  And to make the conversion from film to a digital projector is expensive.  It's going to cost somewhere between $70,000 and $100,000 dollars a screen.

With that kind of price tag, some of the smaller rural cinemas will probably close their doors.  The others that stay open will have to pass that cost on to its theater goers.
