ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – Smash and grab thieves strike again, this time using a pickup truck to slam right through a wall of a north St. Louis pawn shop.
It happened around 5:00 am at Lee`s Pawn and Jewelry on Martin Luther King Drive at Belle Glade Avenue.
We`re told a witness saw a Dodge Ram pickup truck back into a wall of the pawn shop then saw several suspects get out of the truck and run to a dark colored car parked in front of the business.
Investigators say the witness saw the suspects run back to the business then the witness called police.
By the time officers got there the suspects and second car were gone.
Turns out the Dodge Ram was stolen last Friday night from outside the south city home of a 72 year old man.
The ‘MO’ in this smash and grab is very similar to many others we`ve covered–a stolen truck, very often a Dodge Ram, is used to `ram` into a business then the suspects take off in another vehicle.
No one from the pawn shop was willing to speak with us.
We do understand it was closed when all of this happened.
Police say the business owner came to the scene and told officers nothing appeared to have been taken.
Anyone with information regarding the incident and/or the vehicle in these photos is urged to call CrimeStoppers at 866-371-TIPS.
