UNIVERSITY CITY, MO (KTVI) – The question is it or isn’t it open?
That question has some wondering after conflicting reports about the status of a controversial University City bar.
Social House 2, the spin off from a bar by the same name in Soulard hs not received the welcome basket from city officials since opening up for business in the Delmar Loop in March.
The city's mayor and others don't think a bar with cocktail waitresses wearing nothing but body paint from the waist up is appropriate for the neighborhood.
The city manager said Tuesday that the bar has closed for good.
But the owner of Social House 2 assured a FOX 2 news crew this past Friday that the bar wasn't going anywhere.
That despite a posting on the Facebook page of Mayor Shelley Welsch that stated the parties had resolved their differences.
That post said Social House 2 in the University City loop will close for good on Sunday morning June 19th.
Since the restaurant/bar opened in March, it`s concept has been at the center of controversy.
University City even took Social House 2 to court.
At one point, the city stripped the establishment of its liquor license, but a judge ordered a stay while the legal battle played out.
