ST. LOUIS (AP) _ Some graduates of a suburban St. Louis Catholic school are upset that the school asked two female teachers to resign after they were married in New York.
Olivia Reichert and Christina Gambaro say Cor Jesu Academy officials asked them to resign in late July after the school received a copy of a mortgage application with the couple’s names. The all-girls Catholic high school told them they violated a moral contract faculty members sign as part of employment.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports their departure has prompted some school alumnae to create a private Facebook group that has more than 2,000 members. The group urges its members to contact the school and voice their concerns.
The school said in a statement that it doesn’t publicly discuss personnel matters.
