Some Ballwin residents wake up to no power

BALLWIN, MO (KTVI) - Around 2:30 am resident living along Big Bend near Hannah Road heard an explosion, and ran outside to see a ball of fire in the middle of the road.

According to police an SUV going east on Big Bend went off the road hit a power pole then ran into a fence.

The crash left live power lines down in the middle of Big Bend and the power pole dangling over the east bound lanes.

Officers said the driver wasn’t injured.

They wouldn’t say if drug or alcohol was involved but they did say an arrest was made.

Eventually the SUV was towed from the scene. The front of the vehicle was completely smashed.

According to Ameren 327 homes were without power due to the crash.

Based on the looks of the damage residents were prepared to be without power for most of the day.
