A special delivery is on the way to the East St. Louis police officer shot in the line of duty last weekend.

Officer Michael Baxton, Junior, 26, was shot in the face Sunday.  His injuries are painful, but an old St. Louis business is trying to heal that hurt.

'You know we feel fortunate to have such a great business.  We love St. Louis and we want to give back,' said Amy Dubman, co-owner of Carol House Furniture, which is delivering a $900 recliner to Baxton Thursday.

'It`s a really comfortable chair, so hopefully his recuperation will go faster,' said Amy with a laugh. 'It`s so good to hear he survived it.  When you can give to someone like that, make his life a little more comfortable, it`s just a blessing to us.'

Through his police chief, and through a handwritten letter, Baxton said the love that`s been shown him is a refreshing relief.

'He`s grateful,' said East St. Louis Police Chief Michael Floore.  'Thank you for your prayers and your love.'

Amy said she hopes the recliner lets Baxton know 'that we appreciate him, and we appreciate what officers do, the danger they put themselves in to protect us.'

'Speedy healing, she said.  'We appreciate your work.'
