ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)- A spike in crimes ranging from car break-ins to murder in downtown St. Louis has police shifting resources to the area. The plan starts with the police department using a new intelligence center to monitor everything. It’s all an effort to make people feel safe.
Criminals have really been targeting cars in recent weeks, according to police. It has pushed more people to use parking lots instead of free street parking or just avoid downtown all together.
Police officers will use the intelligence center to monitor security cameras throughout downtown St. Louis.
Police say the need for more security downtown came into focus last weekend when 19-year-Bobby Christman was shot to death near the City Museum.
