AFFTON, MO (KTVI) – A two alarm fire caused residents of 24 units in an Affton apartment complex to evacuate and find other places to stay Thursday night. The American Red Cross is helping people find shelter for the night. It happened around 6:30 p.m. in the Wedgewood Apartments. No one was injured and the cause of the blaze is under investigation. It started on the third floor in a unit where no one was home. A resident smelled the smoke and alerted other residents to escape.
St. Louis County Bomb and Arson officials are investigating, it is standard procedeure in fire like this. Affton Firefighters received help from a number of other departments. Ten trucks and about 30 firefighters responded to the fire.
