ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – St. Louis’ naked bike ride this weekend was among the largest in the country. An estimated 1,000 riders took to the streets Saturday night wearing as few clothes as they felt comfortable wearing.  Only Portland, Chicago and Philadelphia had larger crowds for their rides.

Now in its fifth year, hundreds of participants joined in the 10 mile ride through  St. Louis’ busiest business districts. The ride was a protest against oil dependency and to promote alternative forms of transportation, as well as cyclists’ rights.

Riders are encouraged to go “as bare as they dare.” World Naked Bike Rides are scheduled in 70 cities in 20 countries.
