ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – St. Louis officials are preparing for potential flooding downtown along the riverfront.
Crews began to put up an aluminum flood gate near the intersection of Lenora K. Sullivan and Carr Tuesday.
The effort is a ritual this of year in the city, but this year the gate is three feet higher.
The change is part of the City Arch River Project.
The construction crew said they hope the extra three feet aren’t needed this year, but they want to be prepared.
The city of St. Louis spends nearly half a million dollars per year to address flooding.
