ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – St. Louis Public schools have issued a statement on report of lead paint issues at Roosevelt and Sumner high schools. They say that the presence of lead dust is in excess of Federal and State standards and is a problem in both schools.
Contractors are currently painting both schools. According to a statement from St. Louis public schools the lead dust issues will be fixed at the contractor’s cost once the final cleaning is complete.
The buildings have been off-limits to staff and students since the painting had begun. The work area will not be open to students until lead paint dust levels meet Federal and State standards.
