EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. – When police went to check on a stalled car approaching the MLK Bridge, a standoff ensued early Monday morning.
An officer walked up to the car at about 2:00 a.m., and a man displayed a gun. The officer then called for backup.
Approximately 20 police cars were at the scene. The standoff lasted for about three hours, and it ended peacefully. The man surrendered to the police. He is now in custody.
