(KTVI)- On Saturday, FOX 2/News 11 and the St. Louis Post Dispatch hosted StormFest at First Baptist Church in Arnold.  The event focused on winter weather and winter weather forecasting.  Snow, sleet, ice, and cold temperatures were all discussed.

Dave Murray previewed his extended outlook for winter and talked about what goes in to making a long range forecast.

MoDOT and IDOT explained how they use forecasts to determine when to start clearing the roads and what chemicals to use. They were joined by representatives for two schools who talked about using those same forecasts to determine whether it is safe for students to go to school.

Representatives from the National Weather Service joined the FOX 2 weather team, Chief Meteorologist Dave Murray, Glenn Zimmerman, Chris Higgins, and Angela Hutti.  John Fuller, chief meteorologist for KPLR 11, was also part of the panel. There will also be a special appearance by the Post-Dispatch’s Weatherbird.
