FESTUS, MO (KTVI) – The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department added extra patrols to several neighborhoods after a young shirtless white male was seen walking on lawns and coming up to houses. A photo of the man was captured by a wildlife trail camera along Burning Tree Lane outside Festus. Two detectives are working a nearby house break-in in the 3900 block of Highway P outside Hematite. That occurred on Wednesday during the daytime the same day when the mystery man rang a doorbell at a home off Highway A. The man's appearance has frightened children in the area. "My youngest one is very upset," said Claudine Adem.  "This is a very safe and secure neighborhood, but I'm not letting her ride her bike anymore in the subdivision.”

Capt. Ron Arnhardt from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department is not ready to link the man to a house break-in near Hematite. "Right now the investigation is open and ongoing. We will look to see whether that individual plays a part in the investigation."

Anyone with information about either matter is asked to call the sheriff's department tip line at 636-797-5515.
