Student Abducted, Robbed From Washington University

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)-- A 23-year-old student says she was abducted from a Washington University parking garage and forced her to drive to several ATM's to withdraw cash from her account.

The woman says the man claimed to have a knife and order her to drive around for more than an hour. he had her driver to an area in St. Louis city and got out the car. The woman drove back to her apartment and notified campus police.

The university issued an alert Wednesday morning describing the incident and suspect.

The university is now increasing police patrols on campus and may get some help from St. Louis County police.

Police are going through surveillance videos from the parking garage and ATM`s trying to identify the suspect

Police say the suspect is an African-American male, about six feet tall, wearing a cream-colored New York Yankees cap with a dark bill. Anyone with any information is asked to call Washington University police.

Newsweek and the online publication the Daily Beast say Washington University  is the nation`s 16  most crime-plagued university.

Another assault occurred Tuesday night on the SLU campus. Police say a woman said a man tried to rape her near campus.

An anti-crime meeting in the Central West End featuring police Chief Dan Isom is scheduled for Wednesday night.

Police Chief Isom will discuss crime at the Schlafly Library bBanch in the Central West End. Residents in this area are still upset about the murder of a SLU grad in the Central West End a couple of weeks ago.
