BELLEVILLE, IL (KTVI) – Family, friends and students are still in shock over the sudden death of a very popular Belleville East High School counselor.  Wednesday night dozens came together to remember Chyriell Drain-Hill.

Hill-Drain was just 58-years-old when she passed away Sunday night, just 45 minutes after arriving at the hospital.  Her family is still looking for answers as to the cause. They say she went to the hospital because she was having trouble breathing.

Students past and present honored her legacy Wednesday with the candlelight balloon release.

They describe her as very loving and very special.

"She was my mom on campus and I can just hear her now saying Brittney what are you doing?  And she's just like that for everybody wasn't just me she was a mom to everybody, said former student Brittney Adams.

Drain-Hill passed away 25 days before her retirement.
