SULLIVAN, MO (KTVI) – A small manufacturing plant in Sullivan, Missouri is crafting a special security product that’s in demand everywhere; something designed to protect lives of world leaders.

Paul Alexander, founder and CEO of Executive Wood Products, said his company’s bullet resistant lectern can take heavy fire from an AK-47, all while protecting the person behind the podium.

After the 9/11 terror attacks in New York City, Alexander’s plant began to offer customers the option of added woven ballistic fiberglass to their podiums.

Some of the most famous people in the world use the product. Executive Wood Products has become the largest single supplier of lecterns and podiums to the United States government.

The government requires the podiums be easily moveable. They are on high-quality casters, so they can become rolling safe havens under fire.

The podiums are in all 50 states and 37 countries. The price ranges from $6,000 to $20,000; expensive, but Alexander said it’s well worth the cost.
