BRIDGETON, MO (KTVI) – There is growing support for changing federal jurisdiction over the Westlake Landfill in Bridgton.

North County Incorporated, an advocacy group representing 47 municipalities is asking the Army Corps of Engineers to clean up west lake landfill under the Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program.

Supporters say radiological material at Westlake once sat at other locations in the metropolitan area. Those area’s are already under the Corps’s jurisdiction.

It would actually take congressional action to make the move.
