LINCOLN COUNTY, MO (KTVI) – Three people including a 22-year-old father and his one-year-old baby were killed in a crash on a highway many are calling dangerous.

The deadly accident was on Highway 47 near Hawk Point in Lincoln County. It’s a hilly and curvy road that in many parts has no shoulders.

A survivor of the accident is at Mercy hospital in Creve Coeur trying to cope with the shock of losing both her husband and her son. Destiny Mantia is surrounded by friends and family.

But two family members who may have meant the most to her are not here because they were killed Saturday evening in a devastating crash.

And when you see what`s left of the cars involved, you`ll find it hard to believe anyone survived.

Destiny Mantia along with her one-year-old son Parker and her 22-year-old husband Corey were in their Chrysler Town and Country van Saturday evening on Highway 47 near Hawk Point when a woman from Tennessee driving in a Chevy Suburban crossed the center line and slammed into the Mantia family head on.

The driver who crossed the center line died at the scene and so did one-year-old Parker Mantia. Corey Mantia, the baby`s father died on Sunday. He had been driving the van.

The family had all been wearing seat belts.

Destiny Mantia didn’t suffer any severe physical injuries, but doesn’t remember much about the accident.

But she says something needs to be done about that very dangerous stretch of road.

The Missouri Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash. The initial report offers no indication what caused the driver to cross over and hit the Mantia family or how fast she was going.

The speed limit on that portion of Highway 47 is 55 miles an hour.
