(KTVI) – One suspect is in custody after police say he broke into a north city pawn shop and was caught trying to steal merchandise.

It all went down between 6:30-6:50 a.m. Tuesday  at the Pawn King at Union and Dr. King.
Police say the suspect moved an air conditioning unit on the roof to get into the store.
Then he started putting power tools and a tablet in an area between the ceiling and roof.

At that point, police got there and chased the man on foot down Dr. King.
They tried to taze him but it didn`t work.
Eventually, two officers tackled the suspect and arrested him.  The suspect is only being identified now as an adult male.

Police say he was a prior customer at the store.  Investigators tell us the suspect was a prior customer at the store.

Right now, police are only identifying the suspect as an adult male.
