SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) – A suspect in a woman’s southwest Missouri death has been taken into custody at a grocery store 14 miles away.

The Springfield News-Leader reports that Greene County deputies were called Monday afternoon to a home in Fair Grove where they found a dead 26-year-old woman. The sheriff’s office said in a news release that she had a visible gunshot wound.

Authorities quickly identified a suspect in the case, but that man fled the scene before deputies arrived.

The release says the suspect was located about two hours later in Springfield and taken into custody without incident.
