ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – St. Louis City Police have identified the suspect shot and killed in a shootout with officers on Saturday.
Jared Harris,25, of the 9500 block of Vallette was killed when he was struck by multiple bullets. Police allege Harris began firing at them when he exited a car after it crashed at the intersection of Taylor and Garfield.
A 29-year-old police officer was injured in the exchange, but the bullet wound to his foot is not deemed “life-threatening”.
Police at the scene arrested two other men, ages 28 and 18. Their names have not been released yet, and charges are pending. Officers involved in the shootout have been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation into the incident.
It all began when police say they witnessed what they believed was a hand-to-hand drug deal and began following the suspect vehicle.
