ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo._ A two and a half hour standoff between a man armed with a knife and police ends peacefully early Monday morning (July 17) after police were able to take the man into custody.

St. Charles police spotted a man wanted on outstanding warrants from St. Louis County around 10:30 Sunday night (July 16) at the QuikTrip on North Kingshighway at Elm Street (225 N. Kingshighway St.). Police approached the man who then pulled out a knife.

Officers tried using a Taser to subdue him, but the Taser missed and he was able to barricade himself in a bathroom at the store. Gas station employees and customers were evacuated from the building.

The St. Charles County SWAT team was called in along with two hostage negotiators. When attempts to talk the suspect out of the bathroom failed, officers used a chemical agent to get him to surrender.

No one was injured.

The man was taken into custody. Police plan to file charges for this incident in St. Charles County.
