FARMINGTON, MO (KTVI)-- Police in Ste. Genevieve and Farmington are trying to solve thefts from church donation boxes.  The first theft was reported from the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Farmington on October 14th.    Approximately 2 hours later, the Ste. Genevieve Catholic Church was targeted.  The church is a little more than a 30 minute drive from St. Joseph.

Police have high quality surveillance photos from the theft in Ste. Genevieve.  They hope someone will recognize the suspect and call police.

"Certainly disheartening to think an organization such as the church that helps so many people and so many different organizations, it`s just disheartening," said Chief Eric Bennett, Ste. Genevieve Police Department.

He said the suspect caught on camera in Ste. Genevieve is the prime suspect in the Farmington theft.  Police now want to know if other churches have been targeted.

"If any other churches were affected around the same time frame, they certainly can calland we can work in cooperation with other police agencies," Bennett said.

He said anyone with information about the suspect can contact the Ste. Genevieve Police Department at 573-883-5215 or 573-883-5707.
