ST. ANN, MO (KTVI) - A high-speed chase of a stolen vehicle that started in St. Charles County ended in north county with a horrific crash involving a pickup truck and another car.

The accident happened around 10a.m. near the intersection of St. Charles Rock Road at Lackland. Authorities said officers were in pursuit of a stolen vehicle, but after encountering heavy traffic they ended the chase.

Police put down spike strips outside the St. Ann Police Department, at which point the suspect allegedly tried to run over an officer standing in the roadway.

The driver of the stolen car continued traveling through traffic at a high rate of speed, which led to the accident. Police clocked the car traveling at 118 miles per hour.

The two suspects and the driver of the pickup truck were taken to a hospital and remain in serious condition.

Police found stolen items from a store in Lake St. Louis, as well as weapons and drugs in the suspects' vehicle.
