Suspects firing guns lead police on a chase, crash along I-70

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)- Five people are in custody after firing guns in downtown St. Louis and leading police on a chase. Just after 4:00pm Monday, St. Louis police officers saw shots being fired from occupants of a green vehicle in the area of 17th and Chestnut, near the downtown U. S. Post Office and Scottrade Center. As the officers started to follow the vehicle, those inside started to shoot at the police car.

The pursuit continued to the area of I-70 and Jennings Station Rd., where the suspect vehicle crashed. Five suspects fled the car on foot but were taken into custody in the 4500 block of Edgewood along the Pine Lawn and Northwoods city line.

The officers were not injured.
