ST. LOUIS– Metro has resumed service between the Memorial and Belleville stations after a suspicious package was spotted in the area.

The St. Clair County Sheriff was notified of a package left unattended on the Swansea Metro Link platform. It appeared to be a canvas bag with some wires visible at the top.

Handlers were able to determine the bag contained an electronic hand tool and some electrical cord and did not pose a danger.

Trains were delayed for about an hour and a senior housing complex was told to have its residents to shelter in place.
