MEHLVILLE, MO (KTVI) – Two people in a dentist’s office waiting room were taken to a local hospital Friday after an SUV crashed into the building and hit them.

According to the Mehlville Fire Protection District, the accident happened in the 11600 block of Baptist Church Road, in unincorporated south St. Louis County.

Investigators said a patient at Mark Meyer’s dental office pulled into a parking space in front of the building. But instead of hitting the brakes, the driver hit the gas, jumped the curb, and slammed into the waiting room.

Patients and staff described the accident like a bomb going off.

”I just heard all the noise and chairs flying and people screaming, and somehow I got out of my chair and on top of my desk,” said Terri Correnti, office manager and receptionist at the dental office. ”I was sitting on top of my desk when I opened my eyes and saw everything coming in at me.”

Witnesses from the neighboring Acura dealership ran over to help after hearing the crash. They found one person bleeding from the head and an elderly woman pinned between a window frame and the wall.

Meyers’ office is known for its low-cost Eat Right Dentures. Employees are upset they’ll be out of business for a while now.

”We walked up and we see this, and I was like, ‘Oh, my God!’ No wondering they’re not answering the phones,” said Rogell Stovall, who came by to pick up a set of dentures.
