Update: Former girlfriend of fraternity member confesses to putting swastika on car. Police are now questioning her.
UNIVERSITY CITY, MO (KTVI) – Students at Washington University are on-edge after someone carved a swastika on a student’s car. It happened just across the street from campus some time late last week.
School officials say other students came back from spring break to find their tires slashed. The vandals hit cars belonging to members of Zeta Beta Tau, a fraternity with a lot of Jewish members. Police are looking into whether those vandals are students.
“I would hope that, in our community,’ explained Student Life director Mike Hayes. ‘That would not be the case — that other students would be involved with something like this. That’s not what we do here. So, I don’t believe that would be the case.”
Both University City and Washington University police are investigating. Anyone with information is being asked to call immediately.
