Andrea Yates, the Texas woman convicted of murdering her five children, wants to leave the state mental hospital once a week.  Her attorney is expected to file a letter with the courts, asking she be allowed weekly church time.  The pass is the first step to Yates having a life outside of the hospital.

Her lawyer says she's ready to rejoin society.

Yates has been in the mental facility since 2006.  She was found not guilty by reason of insanity during her second trial after an appeals court threw out the conviction in her first.  Yates was accused of drowning her children to save their souls from eternal damnation.
