MORRISON, Ill. (WGN) – In downstate Morrison, video cameras will be rolling for the first time in Illinois as a man stands trial for murdering a 93-year-old man.
Whiteside County prosecutors say Nicholas Sheley killed a total of 8 people in Illinois and Missouri in June of 2008; he’s already been convicted of one murder, and there are six more trials after this one.
The first four jurors were selected Monday. Jury selection continues today.
Sheley’s erratic behavior in court forced authorities to outfit him with a remotely operated Taser-like device.
Among the other victims of the 2008 killing spree were two married couples and a 2-year-old boy.
