(FOX NEWS) - The start of the holiday shopping season is one short week away!  Toy manufacturers are prepping for their busiest time of the year.  As parents gear up to get their hands on this year's trendiest toys.  Marianne Szymanski, the founder of "Toy Tips Research Institute" discusses how this year's biggest toys were tested and how the testing benefits kids and parents alike.

"Well, all of the toys that I have in front of me are all toys that we tested independently at the Toy Tips Research Institute. I took one of the Hot Hype toy lists, the Fab Fifteen from K-MART and I wanted to dissect that list to find out the hot toys and the hype toys and see which ones are most appropriate and the most fun for kids to play with."  said Marianne Szymanski.

Szymanski is the leading independent expert on toy research.  She has appeared as a guest on many TV shows, including Doctor Oz and Oprah.
