Theft suspect dies after being subdued by trucking company employees

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)- Police are investigating the death of a burglary suspect early Sunday. According to St. Louis Police, the suspect, identified as Charles Lee Bell, 55, was caught breaking into trailers at Central Transport, a trucking company located in the 500 block of Gimblin on the city’s north side.

Around 7:30am, employees confronted Bell, who indicated he had a gun. A struggle ensued and the employees subdued the man until police arrived. Police found Bell unresponsive and rushed him to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

No weapon was recovered. The city’s Homicide unit is investigating the incident.
