Three dead after crossover accident on Highway 61 near Wentzville

WENTZVILLE, Mo. (KTVI) - Three people are dead and one is in critical condition after an accident on Highway 61 south of route W. Southbound lanes of the highway are closed.  Traffic north of Wentzville backed up on in both directions.

The Accident Reconstruction Team is working to figure out just what caused this crashed that killed three people, including two young children.

The Missouri Highway Patrol has confirmed 3 fatalities in this crash that happened around 7:45am.

Investigators say a 1995 Ford Escort driven by Brian Keiper struck the rear of a 1996 Acura. The Acura, driven by Jacqueline Faudi travelled across the median before being struck broadside by a 2010 Ford Escape.  The Ford Escape was driven by Brenda Colbert, 52.

Jacqueline, 36, and Autumn, 6, Faudi were pronounced dead on the scene by St. Charles County Ambulance Personnel.

Infant Kaydance Miller was travelling with the Faudi family in the Acura. She was taken to SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital Lake St. Louis. Miller died at the hospital Thursday morning.

Both drivers of the other two vehicles are OK. One had minor injuries and is being treated at the hospital.

Investigators are still working to figure out what caused the crash.
