Thursday Marks Annual National Day of Prayer

Thursday marks the annual National Day of Prayer. It’s held on the first Thursday of May each year.

Several observances are planned in the St. Louis area. Illinois Governor Pat Quinn hosts his annual prayer breakfast in Springfield Thursday morning. President Truman established the National Day of Prayer in 1952.

Alton National Day of Prayer – Riverbend Rotary Club – 8:15 a.m. at Alton Square mall (JC Penney court)

Gatweay National Day for Prayer – 12 noon  – This year several Metro East locations have been added: O’Fallon City Hall, Caseyville Village Hall, East St. Louis City Hall, Brooklyn City Hall, St. Clair County Court House, and old Cahokia Court House will have Noon events.

Pray for America – 7 p.m. Trinity Mt. Carmel Church, 11755 Mehl Ave. Florissant, Mo.
