ST. CHARLES, MO (KTVI) – A 2-year-old boy was left at Chuck E. Cheese's by his childcare provider after a field trip, according to the St. Charles Police Department.

He and 14 other children under five years old were taken to Chuck E. Cheese's by two women who work for Rich & Little Daycare in Moline Acres, according to police.

Witnesses said the boy was left by the women and that he wandered around for about two hours.

"He was asking people to play, and saying that he did not know where his teachers were," witness Jessica Eaton said. "Then the employees started trying to help make him happy by giving him coins to play games and food.”

The St. Charles Police Department and officials with Social Services were called to the scene. Police said employees at Chuck e. Cheese's handled the situation "perfect."

However, witnesses were not so kind to the childcare employees.

"That daycare needs to be shut down," Eaton said. "They had way too many kids for two people."

The childcare is state licensed. FOX 2 called the childcare and stopped by, but no one was available for comment.

Eventually, one of the same childcare employees who left the child returned and picked him up.

Police said the child's mother was called and agreed to let the childcare employee bring the child home.

Police said this is an ongoing investigation.
