Lacombe, LA (WGNO) — Investigators in St. Tammany Parish are seeking first-degree murder charges for a foster mom who admitted to beating, shaking and dropping a toddler in a bathtub.

On Thursday, emergency workers were called to Trenique Faciane’s home because of a child who was vomiting and unresponsive. The sheriff’s office said the girl was immediately transported to a south shore hospital because she showed signed of abuse.

Faciane later admitted to investigators that she beat the nearly 3-year-old with a hairbrush. That child died at the hospital Friday afternoon.

“While investigators are now seeking a warrant to book Faciane with first-degree murder, the entire Sheriff’s office family offers our prayers for this young and innocent child,” the sheriff’s office said.

Faciane is an owner of Wee Wisdom Learning Center, a privately owned child care facility in Slidell.

Faciane’s bond has not yet been set.
