BEDFORD COUNTY, PA – A teen is being charged with “desecration of a venerable object” after he violated a statue of Jesus.  The church where the statue stands found out about the incident through pictures posted to Facebook.  If convicted, he faces two years in juvenile detention.

Bedford County District Attorney is charging the teen in juvenile court. He says, “He put it on his Facebook page and now he’s going to be held accountable for it.”

“Love in the Name of Christ Ministry Center” tells Christian Heilman of WTAJ-TV that they have been criticized because people think they pressed charges.  Executive Director Bev Patten says, “We’ve been praying for salvation for him and just that he would realize what he had done was wrong.”

The 14-year-old has come forward to apologize.  The ministry takes that as a positive sign.  They hope he can do community service at the church.
