A video on the US Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s YouTube channel is helping spread an important safety message: never text and drive.

Liz Marks was in high school when she crashed her car while reading a text while driving. The incident left her blind in one eye, and diminished her ability to smell, hear, and even fall asleep.

The video’s description, written from the perspective of Marks’ mother, reads: “This is the story of how my daughter Liz’s car accident from texting while driving has changed our lives forever. If you get a text, don’t look at it while you’re driving. It’s not worth it.”
