CORVALLIS, OR (KTVI) – Researchers at Oregon State University’s Food Innovation Center have found a seaweed that reportedly tastes like bacon.

At OSU’s Hatfield Marine Science Center, researchers are growing dulse: a red alga that grows on the north Atlantic and Pacific shore lines. When fried, researchers say it tastes like bacon.

Dulse is packed with protein and has double the nutritional value of kale.
