ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)- It was a dream come true for St. Louis Cardinals fans Monday evening. Pitcher Adam Wainwright once again stepped to the pitcher’s mound. But this pitching mound wasn’t at Busch Stadium. It was at a local girl’s softball game.
Matt Sebek, the founder of the online sports humor publication JoeSportsFan, tweeted this photo of Wainwright on the mound

Apparently the team’s pitching machine failed. Luckily, Wainwright’s daughter is on the team and he was in the crowd. The Cardinals ace shared the posting, stating “I told everyone I’d play again this year! ”

Wainwright tore his left Achilles while batting in a game against the Milwaukee Brewers early this season. He is likely out for the rest of the 2015 season.
