The “Life of the Party” leaves a witty, funny obituary

PITTSTON, PA (WNEP) –  People across the country are talking about a Pennslyvania man’s obituary.  There are a few things that make this send off unique.  Kevin McGroarty wrote his own obituary and peppered in words of wisdom and humor.

His obituary starts, “Kevin J. McGroarty, 53, of West Pittston, died Tuesday, July 22, 2014, after battling a long fight with mediocracy.”

McGroarty’s last remarks are what people are really responding to. His friends called him the, “Life of the Party.”  He ends the obituary with some smart advice: “It costs nothing to be nice” and “Never stick a steak knife in an electrical outlet.”

A local TV reporter interviewed his friends.  WNEP-TV reports that they will say goodbye to him at his funeral soon. But, they don’t believe the obituary is the last they will hear from their buddy.
