FALLBROOK, CA – A Marine who nearly lost his life in combat has a new place to call home.  The Gary Sinise Foundation, donating a technologically-advanced smart home to the soldier.

And with that reveal, Marine Sergeant Jason Ross and family are now proud owners of this beautiful Fallbrook home.

Jason Ross says: 'There's really no way to describe it, it's just like Wow.'

And the wow factors continue.

Jason Ross says: 'I can get into those shelves, I can pull them down.'

The home was designed just for Jason.

Jason Ross says: 'I can control the TV'

Built from the ground up.

Jason Ross says: 'It's been a long road to get here and the journeys over.'

A journey that started back in October of 2011, when Sergeant Ross almost died.

He was an explosive Ordinance Disposal Tech deployed to Afghanistan.

Sweeping the front line for IED's when he stepped on one.

Jason was only given a 2 percent chance of survival.

After more than 240 surgeries later, Jason beat the odds.

Jason Ross says: 'I just chalk it up to the fact, that I'm just stubborn, I didn't like the odds.'

MOS says:  'Because of men and women like you my friend.'

The home is one of 23 homes built by the Gary Sinise foundation.

The actor himself, not on hand for Friday’s dedication, but sent his personal blessing.

MOS says: 'I wish I could be there today to thank you personally for all you have sacrificed.'

And for those sacrifices this home is built to ease any burdens of this wounded hero.

Jason Ross says: 'I wanted a kitchen I can go into and I can move around in and I wouldn't be bumping into things.'

MOS says: 'It just brings back normalcy to the life...'

And the most important part of that normalcy, independence.

Stacie Ross says: 'My Daddy can have more room to play with me and Jackie and cook dinner. Laughs.  I am also happy Jackie and I have our own rooms and Grandma and Grandpa will be able to live with us.'
