Two toddlers killed in overnight crash near UMSL

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)-Police are investigating after two children were killed in an overnight accident in north St. Louis County. It happened when an SUV crashed into a sedan around 9 p.m. on Hanley Road at University Place Drive near the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Investigators say the SUV struck the sedan as the driver attempted to make a left turn onto University Place.

The SUV, occupied by a 19-year-old male, was traveling north on Hanley in the far right lane. The sedan, which was traveling southbound on Hanley, was occupied by a 21-year-old woman and the two children.

All three victims in the sedan were transported to the hospital. Both children were pronounced dead a short time later. They have been identified as three-year-old Kameron Johnson and two-year-old Kylee Johnson.

The driver of the SUV was also transported to the hospital for treatment. His condition is unknown at this time.

This investigation is being handled by the St. Louis County Police Department Bureau of Crimes Against Persons.
