EDWARDSVILLE, IL (KTVI) – Madison County Coroner Stephen P. Nonn has identified the victim of a two vehicle accident that occurred Monday night after 10 pm on I-255 south of New Poag Road. The victim Max A. Davis, 24, of Carlyle IL was traveling in a Ford pick-up in the northbound in the southbound lanes of I-255 south of New Poag Road. His vehicle collided with Cadillac STS.
The driver of the Cadillac was transport to a St. Louis hospital. His condition is unknown.
The pick-up caught fire and burned in the accident.
Davis was pronounced dead at the scene. The coroner says that Davis died from blunt trauma to the head, chest and abdomen. He positively identified by dental records.
The Illinois State Police are investigating the accident.
