U.S. Chess Champions Crowned In St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – Chess Grandmaster Gata Kamsky and International Master Irina Krush won two prestigious titles in St. Louis. Gata Kamsky won the 2013 U.S. Chess Championships during a sudden death playoff match. He will be taking home a grand prize of $30,000. Irina Krush won the the Women’s Championship and grand prize of $18,000.

This is Kamsky’s 4th U.S. Championship title and Krush’s 5th Women’s Championship title.

The Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis has held Championships for the last five years. The center is contributing to St. Louis’ reputation as the “Hub of U.S. Chess.”
